Paper Tiger Films LLC is the brain-child of long-time partners-in-all-things-nerdy Karen Sickles and James Parris. It’s also a multimedia production company established with the purpose of creating theatrical motion pictures, episodic digital series and commercials. Across the entertainment spectrum, the Science Fiction / Fantasy / Thriller genres have consistently performed both at the box-office and in later ancillary markets. This team of passionate geeks is eager to bring their love of genre entertainment to audiences via compelling stories and unique storytelling styles. While the most powerful experiences have been in large format theater venues with large budgets, there are endless stories that can be told profitably across all digital formats and budget ranges.
A graduate of New York City’s High School of Art and Design and Pratt Institute – and a 20-year veteran of the animation and visual-effects industry, James Parris will head up the visual and creative direction of Paper Tiger Films and its debut feature films, The Modern Girl’s Guide to Wishing, Sawtooth and Greenhaven. James brings a wealth of experience from his creative involvement in such films as The Lion King, Spiderman, X2: Xmen United, I Robot, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
Karen Sickles brings 20 years experience to her role as production head at Paper Tiger Films. Having started her career as a production assistant with Walt Disney Feature Animation, Karen later accrued years of visual-effects production management experience with visual effects powerhouses Digital Domain and Industrial Light and Magic – protecting the visual effects assets, schedules and budgets of the most ambitious theatrical productions.
